Hi

This bug is just about the worst I have had!!!!

I love Safari it is super cool, but the bug I have is really making me angry...

See when ever I use Safari and open the application it CAN'T REMEMBER ITS WINDOW SIZE AND PLACEMENT...

Man it is annoying!!!

I have to movie it to place and resize it every damn time!!!

Is there a solution for this???

I hope so...

I am on an iMac800/superdrive with 1GB ram and newest version of Jag.

Thanks...

Yeah, this is a bug, and it should be fixed in the 1.0 release. This was also an issue with iCal which was recently fixed by Apple. There is a utility out now that keeps your window size and placement. I can't remember the name, but search for Safari on Versiontracker and you should find it.

i found that if you keep the safari window too close to the dock, new windows will open half under the dock and off the screen. keeping windows away from the dock helps or you can try this...

It always remembers the window location on all three of my Macs. It didn't at first, but it did after I played with the status bar setting.

Have patience dude. I assure you that a bug like this is minor and easy to fix and will most likely be fixed by version 1.0. I'm guessing Safari will be final sometime in February.

Thank you for your kind reply to my somewhat stressed outburst...

Thanks for looking into this for me, I really love this Safari but it was really annoying when the window was all over the place...

This is why Mac is so great to have, the people who owns them often are the greatest help to ones needs...

By the way I am buying this new iLife as it is the only way to get iDVD3 and it looks fantastic. I don't think people realize just how wonderful a program it really is.

I have done some unbelievable stuff with it. In fact I should consider making a home page where people can post their ideas etc. Or home made plugins for either iMovie or iDVD...

Too bad I know next to nothing when it comes to web-pages... Better get into it...

Thanks for all your help, I appreciate it very much...

One last question, what is next on your wish list from Apple's products... What is the next thing you will buy?

How do you figure. It took them months to get iSync 1.0.

I would have to agree. I think this is going to be public beta for at least 3 months. Why rush it and have people bash you for a full release when you can work peacefully under the beta shield?

If Chimera ever manages to render the BBC home page with it's ticker correctly and they catch up on the speed with Safari I might go back. As it is I am fed up with seeing part of my tool bar and favourites bar "eaten" by the ticker. Also where as once upon a time I found Chimera to be pretty crash proof neither 0.6 or any of the nightlies that I have tried since are as reliable.

Just wishing guessing. Frankly, I'd like to see a second beta instead in February before officially releasing it March or April. After all, Apple's got at least 500,000 beta testers to help them out!
