I just installed new RAM in my MDD Dual 1GHz yesterday and that night had my first kernel panic since jaguar went GM.
The circumstances of the KP: I put the computer to sleep, but a cd rom accidentally hit the touch sensitive button on my 15" Studio display, without turning on my main display i touched the Studio Display's sleep "button" to put the machine back to sleep. I waited about 45 sec and turned the primary display on to discover a kernel panic.
Is the RAM likely the culprit for the KP?

No clue, but at least you weren't in the middle of a term paper or something...
A KP that way is almost OK...

You give an awfully detailed description of the circumstances; have you tried this a few times to see if you can reliably crash the machine with it?
I'd suggest doing that, then taking the RAM out and trying it some more. If you can crash the machine every time with or without the RAM, then the RAM isn't the culprit. On the other hand, if the panic goes away after you've removed the RAM, you might want to consider exchanging it.

I agree. I think i can even remember which apps I had open at the time. When I have a moment i think i'll shoot some trouble
