Well iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie and iDVD are all supposed to be grabbing resources from eachother and what not which is pretty cool... But what about the others?
Even just for iApps we still have iChat, iSync and iCal. Granted Adress Book works with both iChat and iSync doesn't it? And Mail with adress book... I hear... sorry I don't use Jaguar I don't have the cash to upgrade right now.
But esspecially now with Safari in the mix... what apps do you think will start talking with eachother now? I think it'd be kinda cool to be able to use iPhoto pictures as iChat buddy icons, or even be able to edit tiny parts of your iTunes music to be iChat alerts and what not... I think since a fair bit of people have been complaining about a lack of an iPhone app for working with your phone line via a modem I think that would be pretty cool if they could pull it off, and intigrate that into iChat, perhaps even make an option for long distance calls via the web with .mac or something... I dono...
Yeah so what would you guys like to see happen with the current iApps... and what're we missing? I think we can start wishing again since apple finnaly gave us the dream browser we've been waiting for or so I hear..

Mac OS Rumors (you can check it out, it's at the bottom of the page) was reporting on 10.3 having a heavy focus on integration of the new web capabilities among the various apps, with all of the apps and the OS getting impressive new web capabilities.

"web capabilities" hehehe
I could kind of see that... but obviously apple's not gona make iTunes into a perosnal streaming server for radio broadcast online... I mean can you imagin the licence fees!?
I could see iChat having some video chat features, (although I really want iPhone!)
And I could see creating new apps and having them work more with the web, IE the way sherlock is going, and mixing that up with mail and safari, and probably iChat and possibly a bit more with iCal, and if they added an FTP option to isync that'd be SWEET! IE have a folder on your desktop and have that sync with one on a server somewhere... I would tottaly KILL for that option!
Cause aside from possibly getting a palm I dout I'll use iSync that much... but if they did well... I dono it'd be sweet
I think it'd be pretty cool if Apple struck up a deal to include a new version of PS Elements on all new macs and have more intigration with iPhoto, although it's already really good from what I hear.
It'd be really cool if they could get another developer... hey maybe one they own! cough emagic cough... to do something cheap to work with iTunes, so that you could have some cool sound effects added to your music if you want and just run it over top you wouldn't even need to deal with copyright infringement...
Anyone know if apple might be able to do something with the code from the GIMP and use it in iPhoto? Similar to what they did with KHTML?
Heck since apple seems to be getting in really good with the open source community, how bout doing something with Apple works!? Heck change the name it's dumb, What would happen fi apple had a nice developer team working on the stuff in Open Office.org and intigrate some of it into the current Apple Works setup?
Oh another feature I think would be pretty cool... ultimately... would be if they made the option in system preffs to get rid of brushed metal... I know a lota people like it... heck I like it... but it might be cool to get rid of that interface sometimes and just change things up ya know?
I mean from what I hear iCal, iPhoto, and Safari can all be made to go unbrushed... and Mail is a major app that's not brushed soo... what's up with that?
I can't really think of anything else to say.

I would like to print out a twelve month calendar with 12 fotos and birthdays. It would work simililar to the book feature in iPhoto. maybe apple could charge 5 bucks apiece if you wanted them glossy in quantity. Great holliday present.
it would combine iphoto ical and address book. Maybe this could be a third party app?

perhaps the ability to link in an album of photos or within an album the name of someone, into a option in Adress book that would make iCal events involving that person show up with that as a slight background to the lil coloured part?
It'd probably just be one of those less useful more wowful features...
I like the idea of being able to print out the calanders though... although TECHNICALLY you could already do that with just taking a screen capture, open it up in Preveiw and then print it.

In my perfect world everything would stay separate, but would work the same and would talk to each other seemlessly. When things get too interconnected you get all Microsofty...
For example I really like the way iChat handles buddy images (lets you scale and move around the picture). It's weird that address book has it's own (inferior) system. Would be nice if the system was shared and the images were shared (if you wanted them to be).
Anyway what we need is shared functionality, and seemless integration, but not incenstuously interlocking progrograms that can't live without one another.

Id say Apples approach is much nicer than microsoft's. what with WMP being total bloatware, way too many purposes to logically go into one app. The idea behind the integration is not that you're being forced to use the iApps with each other, it's that you would probably take something from iTunes and drag it from itunes into iPhoto for a slideshow or into iMovie for a soundtrack, so why not cut out the middle-man and have each app be able to acess the libraries of the others. Its a level of intuitive integration without precedent. Nobody has a suite of apps that play this nice with each other.

yeah apple could easily make it so that third party software could do the same stuff, or even add to the existing libraries, IE use the photos folder as the base for photos so that even if you don't go as EASILY from say PS Elements to iChat or something, at least you have an easier option or something.
But obviously iLife will slowly either encompase the other three iApps, or there will be more subsets or something.
I do kinda find it weird that we have, Mail, Safari, and iChat as our main weby apps. Safari has a Brushed appearance but a normal name, iChat has an iName but doesn't have a normal name like the others, but is brushed like saffari, and Mail is standard OS X look with a normal name... oi vey.
But then agian Sherklock's supposed to be pretty internety too... I dono what i'm saying but yeah... Anyone else think iChat was kinda thrown in there becuase they had no idea what else to call it?.

well all good things aside, I just hope it's not becoming "load one, load all" situation.

One of these days I need to learn how to apple script stuff
Anyone know of any good apple script books... or should I wait for apple script 2 and then do it... it sounds awsome.. but I have no idea how to use it... controlling apps for stuff like that would be cool... anyone know if you could make text edit run some sorta code replacement on html files then have them turned into php files... it's for a project I've been meaning to do... possibly.

I have a great freeware, its puts a little apple script menu in the finer next to the clock that has a bunch of pre-fab scrips... darn if I can't think of it's name! It can even check your email IMAP account to see how close you are to getting that message telling you you're over your limit!

What, you mean like QTSS?
Anyone know if apple might be able to do something with the code from the GIMP and use it in iPhoto? Similar to what they did with KHTML?
GIMP is GLP'd. KHTML is LGPL'd. So, no. I would explain further, but there's plenty of information about the licenses out there on the internet, and it wouldn't make a lot of sense unless you were familiar with software development.

You can read Apple's guidelines for when people should use metal in their applications in the Aqua HIG (Human Interface Guide), but both iChat and Safari violate that. It'd be nice if Apple figured out what they wanted to do and stuck to it, but hey.

A generalized KParts-like architecture (see frameworks) would be a Good Thing for OS X from an apps integration point of view: that is, a powerful feeling of integration (also visual, i.e. "look and feel": see powerful preview embedding directly from the file manager, etc.) without unnecessary bloat. KParts + "OpenDoc X" + Services + ... would be great!
Safari has been inspired also by Konqueror, after all (unfortunately, IMHO, they also share some not-too-appropriate names): now, it should be time for the "Shiny Fruit" to adopt also some of Konqueror's (and KDE's in general) more "subtle" and advanced features...

Actually, the Script Menu is installed in every copy of Jaguar! It is in the Applications > AppleScript folder. Double-click the Script Menu.menu icon to have it appear in the menu bar. (To remove, hold down the Command key while dragging its icon off the menu bar).
