I've been getting either -36 errors or -50 errors trying to connect to my Gateway desktop running Windows 98 to an iMac with v.10.2.3.

The laptop shows up in the Connect to Servers window, but it won't connect. I get all the way to "Enter your password," and I get the -50 error again when I try to respond with my passwords -- I've tried all possible passwords, both from the iMac and from the Gateway and it won't let me into the networking universe -- which says to me it has assigned its own password to the thing.

I've read and followed the instructions in the "Shoemaker" articles readily available to troubleshoot these issues.

Any thoughts about what I am doing wrong?
