On occasion the sound has stopped in OSX10.2.x (it's sw not hardware) as though the whole Quicktime architecture has just turned off. Rebooting the computer gets it going again but it would be nice to not have to restart everything. Is there any way (terminal or otherwise) to restart the multimedia aspects of OSX without rebooting? Logging out doesn't do the trick either.

the problem occurs after waking from sleep. In my last experience, putting the computer back to sleep and waking it again works fine. YMMV.

It's a pretty interesting bug, indeed the whole QT architecture seems to suffer from it. I thought this was resolved a while back, but apparently no.

Never had that bug.

I hate the way sound gets off balance though (software issue).

Annoying as all hell.
