Well I'm planning on installing Windowmaker through Fink (because I love the NeXT look). Now the questions: does it support apps like Kword and other K-apps ? And: If I install it, does it run side by side with Aqua or only full screen ? (I have the Apple X11 installed).
Also: http://amsn.sourceforge.net --> would I be able to run this ? (recompiling ? don't know how it works actually)

You might find the UNIX forum more helpful, but yes it will support your apps (not sure if the KDE compatibility stuff is enabled by default in Fink, though), and Apple's X11 runs in rootless mode by default. In fact, I'm not even sure if it does full-screen mode at all.
amsn appears to be written in tcl/tk, so you could probably run it on OS X if you installed tcl (via Fink or the package on their site).

Please read the documentation.
[gonzales:~] finlayd% fink info windowmaker
Information about 2074 packages read in 13 seconds.
windowmaker-0.80.1-2: GNUstep (NeXT-like) Window Manager
.
Usage Notes:
Before you can use Window Maker, you must run 'wmaker.inst' to set up
the preferences files for your account. That script can also create
an appropriate .xinitrc file to start Window Maker as your default
window manager.
.
To use Window Maker with GNOME, leave .xinitrc alone and instead
select Window Maker in the Window Manager panel of the GNOME Control
Center.

Well it did that but when I type wmaker in xterm it gives me this:
Code:
wmaker warning: syntax error in file /Users/benoit/GNUstep/Defaults/WMRootMenu, line 3: extra data after end of property list
wmaker warning: could not load domain WMRootMenu from user defaults database
wmaker fatal error: it seems that there is already a window manager runninq

AMSN will work through the Aqua Tcl/Tk (which you can download here) albeit with some strangeness occasionally. Set your browser/file manager/emailer to "open" and your MacOS X defaults will be used for these (or the Finder for the file manager). If you want sound I recommend installing esd using fink and setting the play command to 'esdplay'.
