Folks,

I was in the process of downloading the demo for Photoshop Elements when my internet connection quit on me.

Now I've got this icon on the desktop for the partially downloaded file that I can't get rid of. When I try, I get:

"The item pse2trial.sit is being used by another task right now. (Other tasks include moving, copying or emptying the Trash.) Try again when the other task is complete.

Problem is, I don't have anything else going on at the time. I get this message when I try to delete or move the file.

Any thoughts as to how I can get rid of it? Thanks!

Open the Terminal, type 'rm ' without the quotes, but with the space at the end, drag the file into the Terminal (it will add the path), then hit return.
The file will be removed without further questions (so be careful with the rm command).
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.
