Hello all:
I recently recorded "Never Been Kissed" for my fiance using El Gato's EyeTV. I got a .mov file out of it (about 110 min.). I Demuxed it to get an audio file (m1a) and video (m1v) file. I would like to burn this to DVD to watch in DVD player. Any easy way to do this? I can convert the m1v to m2v using quicktime and the audio (ma1 to aiff) using iTunes but can't figure out the best way to get them to DVD. I have iDVD, iMovie, Final Cut Express, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Well, you could use come of the software out there to create a VCD from the m1v and m2v, or you could use the .mov and iDVD to make a DVD. IIRC, iDVD only accepted real .mov files.
For creating the VCD, go to version tracker and look for ffmpegX.

if its a .mov file, why not use quicktime pro and convert the image to dv stream, and them import it into iMovie (then iDVD)

iDVD won't accept the plain old .mov file?

Sadly, no; that's one of the major limitations of iMovie and iDVD. You can only import DV streams.

Thank you for the replies. Unfortunately, the DV stream will be over 20 GB. I have never really used iDVD, etc. Will converting it BACK (from DV stream) to DVD format make it smaller?

iDVD 2 accepts MOV files. But not MOV files with MPEG-1 video tracks (this part I've heard about but not tried). iDVD converts whatever it gets to MPEG-2, which will fit 60 or 90 minutes on a DVD, depending on quality. To get more compression, you can convert to MPEG-2 yourself, and author a disc with DVDStudioPro, or Sizzle, and burn with Toast or Disk Copy

Yes, re-encoding it back for a DVD will be smaller. Fortunately, iMovie 3 will allow import of movie and mpeg 4 files. You can export as an mpeg 4 from QT Pro into iDVD 2 now. What you'll need to do though is open the m1v in QT, then open the aiff in QT, copy and edit-add or add scaled to the movie file. It all depends per file as to which is better for audio syncing. I've had problems with EyeTV mpeg1 files in syncing so have had to use mpgtxwrap (versiontracker) to split the mpeg1 into 5 or so pieces prior to the demuxing to get them synced happily.
