I currently use a Power Mac G4/400 (PCI Graphics). My employer has graciously bought a Powerbook G4/800 off of eBay for me to use (yay!). Would there be any problem with using Carbon Copy Cloner to move my current OS X installation to the Powerbook? Or are there hardware-specific components that would have to be installed directly onto the new machine? I've used CCC before, so I've got some experience there ... though that was simply to upgrade to a larger HD in my Power Mac.

That's not absolutely true. The installs are a universal install. However, you need to be running at least the minimum supported OS of the target machine on your source machine. For example, if your target machine was a new 1GHz TiBook, you'd need to have at least 10.2.2 on your G4 otherwise the TiBook won't boot properly. Generally, as long as you are running the latest version of the OS on the source machine, you'll be ok.

Okay, that makes sense. I'm running 10.2.3 on my Power Mac at the moment, so I shouldn't have any trouble there. For better or for worse, then, the days of 7.1-esque System Enabler tech is gone.
