Why can't an external Lacie firewire drive be mounted by two G4 towers at once?

The Lacie drive has two firewire ports. Port one is directly cabled to G4 A, and the other is directly cabled to G4 B.

Yet the Lacie drive only shows up on G4 A. So um... why?

The 2nd firewire port on the LaCie drives has another aim. This way you can link another LaCie drive behind it, without having to connect it directly to your computer.
