I have an iBook 500 CD-ROM edition, and Jaguar absolutely refuses to work on it. It boots up from the CD just fine, but it takes an unbelievably long time to install, around an hour. 10.1 only takes 20 minutes. Extra-long installation time done, now it's time to reboot. Gray Apple screen comes up, and just before the spinning wheel thing under the apple is supposed to come up, I get a kernel panic.
I booted in verbose mode, and this is what seemed important out of what I could read. That stupid text box kept getting in the way.
It can't find "com.apple.kernel.iokit" ... which sounds pretty friggin important. I've tried reinstalling, reformatting my drive, formatting without OS 9 drivers, upgrade of 10.1, anything I can think of. This doesn't make sense. Can anybody tell me what's going on, and what I can do about it?
