The icon that automatically appeared when I added my T68i to iSync was the orange phone and I have the blue/silver phone. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to switch them.

Any help?

Your phone is identifying itself as a T68. You should take your phone back to where you got it and ask them to upgrade your firmware to the T68i firmware. If they told you they were selling you a T68i, they were lying. Or you could just rename the files so that the blue one will show up when you are syncing, here's where they are located:

/System/Library/SyncServices/BTConduit.bundle/Contents/Resources/T68i.tiff

You'll want to remove T68.tiff from the folder, and rename T68i.tiff to T68.tiff.

Hope that helps.

Just curious as I'm getting myself the dark grey T68, is there a way to display an icon for that one or should I mess with the tiff file in PS?

You'll have to mess with the tiff file in PS. The reason is that Sony Ericsson never released the dark blue color, it was AT&T (and I think Verizon) that special ordered that color. They've also locked the phone to their service and as far as I know you are not really getting a T68i, but a T68(m). I told my friend this who was ASSURRED he got a T68i and when he took it to AT&T they told him has T68m software on it but it was the T68i model phone. They also did an upgrade of the Firmware for him on the spot.

I never said I was getting a T68i

It is a T68 as shown here. (the site is down right now) Overhere in Belgium the dark grey one is freely available in every store. We don't have all that "unlocking" BS. When I get my phone I will play with the tiff file in PS and post it here if anyone wants it.

OK - that's my problem...

The phone I bought (on ebay) is just a plain-old T68. I tried renaming the files, but for some reason couldn't (I checked the permissions).

From what I can gather online, there isn't a whole lot of difference b/w the T68 and the T68i upgrade. I'm not going to use the phone for messaging or sending photos, so I don't see much of a reason to upgrade. Am I missing something? I think I can upgrade for maybe $20 or so.

You sir, are wrong on many many points. Sorry . I have to point them out as someone who got a T68i in the dark blue color.

First of all, it is AT&T that custom ordered the dark color. Verizon DOES NOT sell the T68i or support it on their network at all. Verizon runs a CDMA network here in the states, and the T68i is decidedly a GSM phone.

I got my phone in december from a store that sells both AT&T and TMOBILE service. The phone that i ended up getting was a blue T68i with the AT&T logo on the bottom. I signed up for Tmobile service however.

My phone was also NOT locked into the AT&T network when i got it. My phone was configured initially with an AT&T background and had presets set to the AT&T data network, but it was no big deal to change all those to tmobile when i got the phone.

FINALLY. you're wrong about the phone being really just the T68m and not the T68i... my phone has MMS capability, T9 text prediction, and other T68i capabilities, and identifies itself as the T68i on my mac.

Here's a picture of my phone. Notice the ugly AT&T logo on the bottom, the blueness, and the service name across the top of the screen.
