Hello,

I am trying to create an applescript that will logout "gently"...
i.e., if the applescript application is double-clicked when programs are open, it will bring up the dialog box that lets the user save changes before if forces them to quit.

I have already found a few solutions that will do the immediate logout, but I would like to give my lab patrons a slightly kinder solution.

Any tips/suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

I couldn't find it in the System Events dictionary. All it had was sleep, restart, and shutdown. However, you could download the new GUI scripting-aware System Events from http://www.apple.com/applescript/GUI/ and script the GUI to do a graceful logoff.
