Hi!

For some reason I can't install OS X anymore on my Umas S900. I recently upgraded with a Sonnet Crescendo/PCI G4/800, but I had this problem before with OS X.1 (now it's Jaguar), so I don't think it's the Sonnet. It had worked previously, and I don't know why it doesn't now. The system freezes during the "preparing installation" screen. I know this won't cure the general problem, but I wonder if it is possible to install a system by booting an existing system and installing the "OSInstall.mpkg" (and maybe some other packages and a little manual tweaking) from the CD on a clean partition (eventually after copying over some files from the working system with CarbonCopyCloner). Has anybody tried this, yet? Thanks!

Installing straight from the mpkg should work. Give it a try and let us know. Also, if I remember coreectly, the boot partition can be upgraded in this way. There is no need to make a seperate partition.

Hi!
I have tried, but the installed system does not seem to boot. This is on an unsupported system with help of XPostFacto, though, it might be different on supported systems.
