Why is Apple waiting so long to post iPhoto 2 and iMovie 3 downloads? Are they trying to value-add the purchase version by delaying the download?

This is very irritating. I would even pay for the stupid thing but now I am getting annoyed - especially since they delayed it the first time because of a problem with a CD.

Well, it looks like iMovie 3 is coming today - I just noticed that Apple snuck a link in there to http://www.apple.com/imovie/download/, but the link is broken. Either they will remove the link or provide the download hopefully today.

It is more likely that they will be officially released for download the same day iLife is distributed... 31st Jan.

Good. Just in time.

I have about 4 GB of DV to edit and I was hoping to start this week. And maybe by the time I'm finished editing it, iDVD 3 (along with Keynote as well as the rest of iLife) will be available in Canada at the educational price of CAD$24.95.

Please!

Apple has chosen the wrong path - the link is gone.

According to people on this board, iLife is already shipping. Besides, I don't see any mention on Apple's website about January 31st.

I belive the Jan 31 rumor was initiated by macCentral saying that they heard driectly from Apple that Apple was going to delay shipment for 1 week. However, as people here and as MacNN's new page indicate, iLife is already shipping to people. It could be that they are timit it such that it doesn't get there untill Friday or Saturday. Either way, I think we'll see iLife this week.

Apple issued an official statement saying this friday. Besides MacCentral wasn't the only site to get that statement - it just seems that MacNN aren't on Apple's mail list

Wow - I haven't heard a reply that intelligent since I was on the playground in third grade...

I was obviously expressing frustration at the significant delays in upgrades to both apps. I clearly think iLife is worth downloading since I stated that I would probably purchase it.

Do you have a link for that? It seems suspicious that Apple didn't tell the Apple Store or iLife marketing people since all their pages still say "available soon...".

Well MacCentral, MacMinute and CNET.com all reported the same thing, and CNET.com quoted this from the statement:

"We will be shipping our iLife retail package and making iPhoto2 and iMovie3 available for download on our Web site by Jan. 31, a week later than we originally announced."

I wonder if the "by Jan. 31" means that it will be released that day, or no later than?

I am clearly worrying about this too much.

I'm betting they removed the date from Apple.com b/c they've already missed one date. It would look really bad if they missed another one...

But here's hoping it's tomorrow instead of Friday or Saturday. I have free time this weekend. I want a new toy to play with!
