I have set my language preferences to just use one language setting (german). This way I never have the flag in the menu bar.

But since some days on every restart there is the US flag in the menu and i have to change back to german manually...

Broken pref file ?

How is it called, so I can delete it ?

Other solutions ?

As weird as it sounds, in my case it was caused by a desktop image. Try setting a different desktop image and see if the problem persist.
