OK, so here's the story . . . I am trying to connect (through command-K) to some windows PC's on the University of Maryland network, and this used to work, but now I get a kernel panic every time in both 10.2.2 and 10.2.3. It used to connect and mount the drive but now it tries for a few seconds before giving me that ugly grey screen asking for a restart. Please help. I am using a Powermac G4 dual 1ghz 768mb ram.

I know there is that ever elusive hidden log file but for the life of me I cannot remember. Perhaps consoule might help out here?

You've got it right. Console will give you the error, but maybe there is nothing in there that will (make sense enough to) help.

I thought I saw someting about this on MacWindows. It may be as easy as deleting a bad preference file. If you are unable to find a fix, you can reinstall the system on 10.2 quite easily and preserve all your settings. Just make sure you choose those options if you do it.

Hopefull someone smarter that me can give you better information.

I have EXACTLY the same situation. On a university network, full of Windows ugliness. Sometimes it just fails to connects and instead gives a KP after some times.

I've sent a few panic.log's thorugh Apple feedback, i suggest you doing the same. There are at this place:

Hard Drive/Library/Logs/panic.log
iMac G5 2.0 Ghz 20", 2 GB RAM, 400 GB, OS X 10.4.5, iPod with color screen 60 GB
