This is a bunch of loosely stitched conjecture, but....

I bought a new DVD player (Cyberhome 500)... which claims to support a slideshow mode for JPGs

So I plopped in one of my CDs full of pics from my Canon Elph...

I got an error on every other pic "invalid file".. then in their file nav menu I noticed that every pic is listed twice...

My hypothesis is that their code does the equivalent of an ls -Ral |grep -i JPG and that it is finding all the pic ture files AND the resource forks for those files (seen under OS X Terminal with ls */rsrc ) ?!?!??!

So first, it won't be til Monday that I can bring one of these CDs to work and put in my Solaris box to see what a "normal" unix says, but does this sound like a reasonable thing?

Whats the best suggestion for burning my pic archive CDs without the resource forks?

Lastly, I know this is only loosely unix-related, but I figure my odds of a good answer in any other group are low to nil.

Thanks,
Mike

A normal jpeg image doesn't have a resource fork. It'll only have one if you create thumbnail/preview icons for each file.

Try saving the image without thumbnails or previews. Of couse, this will detract from normal (Mac-based) usage, but it should stop the error messages on your DVD player.
