As apose to some people on this forum. I quite like the Brush Metal efect, and I want more of it (not on all non carbon apps though). It is farly simple to open the correct .nib and hit the 'Textured window' check box, but this dosen't get the entire efect. Apples (real) Brushed Metal apps have etched type (it can't be graphics, take the 'Bookmarks bar' in Safari for instance), they also have enbedded white spaces and rules, just checking the 'Textured window' check box dosen't activate any of this. Anybody know how to activate these other options in the Interface builder?

An answer like 'Use Metalizer' is not what I am looking for, thanks. I have found these haxies to be slow and create system instability.

You can't just turn that on (or off for that matter). It's hard coded.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

The brush metal works at certain level since it's the right metaphor for gadget like apps. i.e., iTunes, movie players but overall I think is a waste of development effort and is being used so inappropriately that is frankly beginning to annoy me. Please see iMovie3 and see how lowsy it looks and feels.

Apple should provide an option to turn it off, if users are not comfortable with it.

They also have brushed-style buttons and all that stuff, but there is no way to get in third party apps without recoding it yourself.
