On my iBook I have a function key that a friend was using to play some online java based game. He couldn't use his iMac to play as it didn't have the function key.

I thought this would be a simple matter, but after looking though the SysPrefs, I found nothing that would help.

Anyone she some light on this for me? Or just a solution would be great too.

As far as I know, the function key on iBooks and PowerBooks are used to provide an equivalent number of keys on the 'Books as a desktop keyboard would have. For example, with the function key you can have a number pad. So, there's no real reason to have a function key on desktop keyboards.

Is there a certain key or keys your friend was using that he can't find on a desktop keyboard?

I can't say exactly, but it was fn + click that worked in a Java based program. I was confused and still am.
