I am an X11/unix newbie and was wondering if someone could point me to someplace on the web with a good X11/fink tutorial.

Ultimately I'd like to install/use KDE.

Tried installing X11, then fink.

Both seem to work on their own, but when I try to install KDE base I get all sorts of errors...

Help anyone

The Fink homepage (fink.sourceforge.net) is a good place to start. I would also consider installing FinkCommander (on Versiontracker) to start you off with a graphical interface to Fink.

Good luck!

hey guys..

i'm a FINK/X11/Gnome newbie too.. having a bit of a hard time..

got X11 and Fink in here, tried Fink Commmander too, but my prob is installs alwasys seem to need other files..

example: GNOME installer clashes with X11, and needs xfree86 files, then later on in the same install, says X11 isnt installed.

How do i figure out HOW to do this?

It is nothing short of confusing
