I just installed iPhoto 2 on my TiBook and now I can't open my applications folder. As soon as I try, the Finder quits. I even tried to open it through my networked iMac, but the finder on the the iMac quits also.
I also just noticed that I can delete files off my desktop, but the icons won't budge (I can't move them).
Does anybody know what went wrong or how I can fix this?
Thanks in advance.

What should I do?
I don't know how to open disk utility, because I can't get to my applications folder.
Please help!

That's the first thing I did. I should have stated that in my first post.

Have you tried deleting the Finder's plist?
If that doesn't work, try running fsck on your disk.
If that doesn't work either, there was a guy on here a while ago with a similar problem, that we solved by updating the prebinding. Open the Terminal and type this:
sudo update_prebinding -root / -force

this has NOTHING to do with iPhoto, rather it was to do with a mounting and image bug in 10.2. It happened to me a while back, i read numerous posts as to how to fix it, but I eneded up reinstalling X. You may want to try running an app called Dragster http://www.ifthensoft.com/ Ive read that it helped alot of people with this issue

I tried Dragster and it fixed the "moving files" problem. But I still can't open my apps folder. And after I try (and the finder crashes) the "moving files" problem comes back.
I'll try the terminal thing, but first I need to figure our how to open the terminal without being able to get to my apps folder. Any ideas?
Thanks for the help.

Hey CharlesS! That was me that you helped. Still waiting for my bank to approve my billion dollar check for you
You need to log into single-user mode to use the terminal and fsck. Hold down Command (the apple)-S while starting the computer. Continue to hold it until you see text on the screen.
At the prompt, type:
fsck -y
[Enter]
(keep running fsck until it says that Macintosh HD is OK)
mount -uw /
[Enter]
update_prebinding -root / -force
Hope this helps.

Ambrosa: Yep, that will of course work. In this user's case, I thought he would be able to get to the Terminal. I guess I forgot that not everyone has the Terminal in their Dock like I do.

Yea...I had mine in the dock too. Unfortunately, the dock stopped working along with the Finder. Single-user mode saved me.

Go to /Library/Scripts/ and double-click any script file to open the Script Editor application. In a new script window enter and run the following script:
tell application "Terminal" to activate
That should get the Terminal app open for you.
