Not necessarily the label color feature. I would be happy with something better too.

I would like to see something that is similar, but more "modern".
Just changing the color of an folder isn't worth it for most people, they should advance it in some way. I would like to see tags or something similar to the doc icons. Much more robust and scriptable.

Yeah, I'd prefer other methods. Color labelling is too messy. I would love to have something like this:

Yes, but maybe in the shape of a label?
I'm actually more concerend to be able to add multiple arbitrary keywords to files. One could very quickly filter files using the Finder search field, so the visual representation isn't too important.

I'd prefer the ability to add shapes as little icons, rather than pure colour.
Sort of like what Adam did - but the shape can be set. Imagine a folder with a small fire in the corner - representing HOT. An ice block representing COOL. That sort of thing.

Forget colored folders - we need smart folders! I want to be able to make a folder named "Quartlery Reports" that will automatically go out and store any files that have "Report" and ".xls" in the title. This could eliminate the need to browse through save dialog boxes for frequently used items. It would be a nce addition.

I'm very happy with Unsanity's Labels X. It works just like it did in 9 and that is what I need for my needs.
It's simple, basic, and easy to use.
It does seem like this should be part of the OS like it was before.

I agree with Adam's idea, it would be better to have a newer system of labels, a redesigned, modern one.

You could still extend that (to an extent) to the colour dots/labels - one keyword = one colour; two keywords = two colours (half each); three keywords = three colours (third each); etc.
iTunes like Smart folders should be the next major target for Apple in Finder design. I'm hoping that something like it makes it into 10.3. Labels would be largely redundant if they managed it.
