this is basically a question about TextEdit, so may be a bit OT for this list, but it crucially involves emacs as well, so i figured i'd better try here first.
i inadvertently stumbled across something in OS X's TextEdit. it recognizes certain emacs-style keyboard editing commands, including ctrl-k, ctrl-y, ctrl-a, ctrl-e, ctrl-d, ctrl-f, ctrl-b, ctrl-n and ctrl-p. this is pretty cool, but the thing is, none of the meta-key sequences i've tried work (and i've tried esc, alt/option and apple/command as meta keys), and the editing commands are only fully useful if they're all available. i haven't been able to find any discussion of this topic with a google search or on the forums here, and i've found essentially zero documentation on TextEdit in general. so the question is, has anyone else noticed this, and if so, do you know of any way to get the meta-key commands working?
thanks,
Tom
