I got my PS 7 browse a directory that contain several hundreds of pictures, the browsing just too slow and totally not acceptable on my PB G4 1GHz.

It takes 10 seconds for an initial load of a thumb view and 5 seconds to load the second thumb page. PS 7 seems also not very responsive to my mouse selection.

Any chance for an improvement?

Have you updated to 7.01? Adobe might've fixed something in the update that will speed up the browser.

PS7 in general has a nasty tendency of sucking horribly on OS X.

The rumors now are that PS8 will have much more optimized code. Namely, it'll run better. I hope that's the truth.

Yes. it has got that patched to the 7.01 but it could not help, I am not sure if there is some options I have to fine tune inside PS 7 or OSX.

PS7 and OSX are an awful combo.

I boot to OS9 when I need to do graphics work...

The file browser pretty much universally sucks. Once it's got the files cached, it's not just awful, but the caching can take several minutes a folder with more than 20 or 30 images. I wish it wasn't such a dog, becauser he idea and features are pretty nice. The batch rename window is pretty handy.

Most everything else about PS 7 is good for me on my dual gig, but on the 450's I get an awful lag switching apps.

Yes, i get that lag when switching between PShop and other apps

But, I use the file browser often and it is pretty responsive for me. It doesnt take nearly as long as some of you describe.

Once it's got the thumbnails in cache it's not too bad. I pretty much have to plan coffee breaks around loading a folder the first time, though. I'm starting to use it a little more as I learn its features. It's a generally good idea, but maybe it should have some kind of persistent cache file it writes to the hard drive, so we don't have to go through the caching with every launch.

It has nothing to do with 10.2.3. Not matter which version of X you're using, updated to PS 7.0.1 or not, PS is still slow, random crashes, major lags when switching to PS from anotehr app.

Screw 8, I just dropped $600 on PS, I want a free 7.5 or something that fixes all the bugs and speeds it up first. 8 will have feature enhancemnts, I want speed and stability for my $600 first.
