Is this possible...it always seems to alphabetize instead. I love column view, but esp. in my downloads folder, it's annoying to find what I downloaded by title...often the titles are ver misleading.

No, i don't think you change the sorting option in Column view. Just flip to list view anyhow - if you're not flipping between different folders, i don't see the advantage of column view...
