Several applications such as iChat, Installer, Entourage and Software Update, all crash with the following log or similar -

Feb 6 13:42:48 Richard-Pollock /Applications/Microsoft Office X/Microsoft Entourage: *** Warning: ATSUMeasureText has been deprecated. Use ATSUGetUnjustifiedBounds instead. ***

## Component Manager: attempting to find symbols in a component alias of type (regR/carP/x!bt)
Feb 6 13:54:14 Richard-Pollock crashdump: Crash report written to: /Users/rpollock/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Microsoft Entourage.crash.log

Anyone know how to fix this?

I've just seen the reply to Jeff75's thread on the subject from Developer. Although seemingly harmless it always preceeds an application crash. Is it really of no consequence? I'm still suspicious.

That is caused by the Toast MPEG encoder component in Library/QuickTime/. You can fix that by removing it from said folder.
It's most likely not the cause of the crash though.
It always preceeds an application crash.
It preceeds any application launch.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Thanks Developer, I'm persuaded. Curiously, the only thing in the folder
/library/quicktime is a folder named 'Toast Video CD Support.qtx' - no sign of any 'component manager'. Back to the drawing board sadly.

'Toast Video CD Support.qtx' is the Toast MPEG encoder. It's the software that allows you to take any video clip in Quicktime Pro and export it to VCD video. Developer is suggesting you remove it (if you don't use it).
