Hey,

Im really interested to find out exactly what encoding an MP3 is. I have about 400 MP3's that I have downloaded, and a bunch more from CD's. If anyone can explain encoding and how to do it in iTunes I would be greatful.

Encoding is the process of converting the music on the CD to an MP3 file.

iTunes calls it "importing"
