OK, here's whats going on.
I recentley bought a used beige G3 with OSX 10.2. The drive was formatted as UFS, and I wanted HFS to install photoshop. I put in the CD, booted, erased the HD. Partially into the installer, I got a blank screen (monitor went into sleep) and then nothing happened. After a few tries, it installed.

Because I wanted Classic, I copied the System Folder from a disk image on a G4 Restore CD I had (OS 9.0) but I need 9.1 for classic. I switched to the OS9 system folder in the startup options. I booted into OS9 hoping to update it to 9.1, but instead it said it couldnt run from a copied system folder, and I couldnt get any further. I read to hold X when rebooting to force OSX to boot up. Well, holding X did nothing, and I was stuck. I put in my 10.2 CD to reformat and reinstall again, and had the same blank screen problem. After a few tries, nothing. I took out my burner and put in the original CD drive and tried again. Nothing. I took out the USB PIC card, again, nothing got fixed. I hit the reset button on the logic board, nothing.

Ive tried nearly 10 times to get this installed, but have had no luck. Does anyone know how I can possibly get this installed? Thanks.

How large is your hard drive?

In order to install OS X on your machine, you need to make sure the first partition on your hard drive is no larger than 8GB. This is a limitation of the older machine.

So boot from the Jaguar install CD. Under the file menu, run Disk Utility. In Disk Utility, click the parition tab and set up the disk with 2 partitions. Make the first one no larger than 8GB. The second partition can fill the rest of the disk. Then quit Disk Utility.

Then install OS X on the first partition.

i had the partition in the first 8 gigs, but I removed all but 1 RAM stick and it installed fine, so I might have a bad stick.

Hmmm...so it installs fine when you just have one stick of RAM in there? You could be right. One of the other pieces might be bad. On the other hand, sometimes just removing and reseating the RAM corrects problems.
