My roommate doesn't have a printer.
Is there a way to restrict USB Printer sharing on OSX by password or IP?

not that I know of. However, I wouldn't worry too much about folks leeching off your printer. In the printer name/title, maybe include 'notforyou!' or some other message, and don't let the neighbours know that it's shared.

Hehe, people are incompetent, they'd print to it anyways.
I live in a college dormitory, there are a lot of morons here. About a month after Jaguar came out I saw that I could share my printer, so I turned sharing on... just because I could... I walk out of my room, come back five minutes later and someone had already printed something... hehe
(By the way, my college's ISP keeps going down, it was down for three days, hence my slow response time... but thanks for the help, guys. )

Actually, there are a few possibilities.
Apple's GUI over CUPS doesn't provide for restriction, but some of the fancier CUPS features might allow for this. Even if they don't, you have another option. Firewall the port for printer sharing off from all machines except localhost. Then, set up an SSH tunnel between the two machines for dealing with the printer sharing. If done correctly, once you have the tunnel set up it should work seamlessly with the GUI, but even if someone manages to find the printer (and they shouldn't), they'd need the key to the tunnel to get in and use it.

Wow, that's too hardcore for me I think. But thatnks, maybe I'll look up some threads on SSH tunneling that I've read so much about.

I was thinking it might be possible to turn off the CUPS LPD sharing, but turn on the CUPS/Samba sharing. I think that can be configured to require a password.
Explore around in http://127.0.0.1:631/ to read the documentation.
