Since I can't seem to get to the Mac OS part of Jaguar once I install it, I'm gonna post here. It seems to be a problem with something called the process expert, whatever that is.
10.2 (6C115) boots fine from the CD, and it installs just fine. Then when I try to boot from my hard drive, I get kernel panic, and this seems to be the cause:
getDependencyListForKmod(): Dependency com.apple.kernel.iokit of com.apple.driver.AppleCore99PE is not compatible or is unavailable.
I have an iBook 500 with a CD-ROM drive, 40 GB IBM TravelStar, and 320 MB of PC133 RAM. Every other OS I've ran on it works fine. I've tried 10.1.5, Mandrake Linux, OS 9, and Debian PPC.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Is this a clean Install ? because it seems the kernel tries to load a KTEX from the previous version; If you can afford a clean install with a hard disk format then do.

Yeah, clean install. I've also done upgrade, and archive installs. I've tried formatting and repartitioning, I've tried everything I can think of. I'm going to get my OS 9 disk today to see if updating my firmware can help. This problem even stumped a person on IRC that used to *head* development of the OSX kernel.

You have a 40GB IBM Travelstar in a 500iBook? You replaced the harddisk?
Then that might cause it, on restart the system loads the kernel extension (which is not from another version, it is pretty sure in Jaguar) and detects a problem there within the driver.
Maybe the firmware info in the Travelstar does not match Apples defaults? It might help to check xlr8yourmac.com's compatibility site or kext mods.....

Just be careful what you believe. If this person had done any development on the kernel, it is not likely that s/he would have been stumped.
If you purchased 10.2 and this is a legitimate install, call Apple, or go to an Apple Store and get a new copy. If not, try an Apple-made copy of the disk (i.e. go buy it and try again).
