Hey all,
I just have a few q's about cd burning on my ibook.
1. If I just burn them from the finder will they be readable in a pc?
2. Is it possible to get a cd-rw disk to mount like and act like another disk?
I would prefer not to have to buy anything. But any free software would be great, also I am no stranger to the command line so I dont mind command line proggies.
thanks, tobes

1- No, the Macintosh Finder can not burn PC CDs. You will need TOAST to do this. I think it is about $99 but is much better then the Macintosh finder burn.
2- Could you be more specific?

I don't think so, but I've never tried to.

2. I want to be able to mount the cdrw to use it like another disk. For example to back up documents etc.
Also how do i rewrite onto a disk that has already been used.

CD-RWs are burned like normal CD-Rs. After they are burned you can add a second session or erase the CD-RW and burn it again.
You can not add or erase single files or folders.
To erase a CD-RW use the application "DiskCopy".
CDs that were burned using the finder will be readable on Windows PCs (in 10.2 this is the default setting, in 10.0 and 10.1 you have to specify the Windows CD format)

... BTW, there's also an xcdroast package in Fink - but you have to enable the unstable tree before installing it (and it has lots of dependencies, also), which means that it has not been fully tested, yet...
