Until last week, I've been able to view PDF files in a browser in Jagwire--any browser. Now it doesn't work at all. When I click on a link to a PDF, the file downloads instead of opening in a browser window. Then it opens in Acrobat Reader.

I looked at plug-in folders in application packages, my user library, the main library and see the PDFViewer, but it doesn't work. When I try to select it as a plug-in to use with a browser in the browser preferences, it's greyed out. Is there a setting somewhere that I've missed? Is there a way to download the newest plugin without installing the entire Acrobat Reader program?

The PDFViewer is disfunctional in 7 different browsers. How can this be fixed???? Is this a problem with Acrobat, browsers or JagWire?

Help!

To my knowledge Adobe has never released the PDFViewer plugin for Mac OS X, so I wonder how you got it working in the first place?

You need a third-party plugin to view PDF inside browsers.

I think this is the link to the PDF viewer plugin:

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Yea, its never existed. I've only ever had in browser viewing in OS 9 and have to say I prefer it when its downloaded and then viewed within Acrobat to be honest.

Yes, Acrobat Reader is the only way to display PDFs with advanced features like links and forms, but for simple PDFs I prefer the plugin. It's just more convenient and faster than Acrobat Reader.
In my opinion of course.
