Arrrgh. My Cube's iSynch just keeps complaining about this:

Monday, February 10, 2003 11:01PM
Can't synchronize contacts to YuriPod: device is not available
Can't commit changes in item to conduit Address Book - the record has no type ({
NSSyncCompanyName = "ICC Computing";
NSSyncContactPhoneNumberWork1 = "277 8000";
})
Can't synchronize calendars and To Do items to YuriPod: device is not available

Trying to fix this, I first deleted the ICC Computing entry fromm my powerbook's address book, then did a "reset all devices" from my powerbook, then synched that. I then manually deleted everything in my desktop's Addres book, and synched.

I'm thinking I should have a clean slate to write over here, but I'm not. Now I have no addresses in my desktop address book at all.

Anybody have any thoughts on how to resolve this? Can I dig into Address Book's records thru the Finder?

Have you tried "Revert to last sync" option?

When I got stuck like this I ended up uninstalling isync then reinstalling

Now I keep back ups of my cals and address book so that I can get back to a known working version...

Good Luck.

Well, I think I whipped it into shape. I cleaned out my online .mac address book, and turned off synching. It would then synch without errors. It synched no records (since everything was empty), but at least it didn't complain.

I then went and uploaded my "known good" group from my powerbook, and it synched those down to the Cube. I turned on .mac synching, and those populated just fine too.

I'm now taking extra care to back up my address book manually from time to time.... a word to the wise. I'd still like to know exactly what files they are at the Finder level, in case I wanted to bring them back from a tape backup someday.
