Hope someone has an answer to hand, things are getting tight...
I'm trying to save an Appleworks 6.0.4 doc down as a pdf.
I create it by going through 'print' and 'save as pdf'
The result looks totaly fine in preview but gives an error in Acrobat reader, which is how my client is trying to view it.
The error says something like 'A drawing error occured. This is probably due to an out of memory condition. Try quitting some programs'
It's not a memory problem.
Any ideas? Please...
Thanks
Simon

What OS are you on? OSX? What version of Reader does your client have? What OS is your client on? Might be a old version compatibility issue....

Guys,
Sorry, should have said...
Basically latest versions of everything...
10.2.3
Appleworks 6.2.4 (not 6.0.4)
I was using Acrobat reader 5.0.5 but just downloaded 5.1 WHICH WON'T LAUNCH DUE TO A SHARED LIBRARY ERROR...!! :-( So now I don't have a reader at all. Have repaired privileges but still not working...
1.25 GB RAM so don't think that's the issue.
Don't know client's verion of Acrobat but it'll be on Windoze I suspect. The point is *I* can't even read the pdf in acrobat.
Even if the stinking thing would launch...
Any more thoughts?
Thanks
Simon

How large are these PDF?
Acrobat Reader has some implementation limits (see Appendix C of the PDF standard) which Quartz does ignore. Strictly seen the PDFs Quartz generates are correct, they just can not be displayed by Acrobat Reader.

Well, I don't have Appleworks, but the pdf's I create from everything else work fine. I do know that the Windoze users need to have the latest version of reader or it won't open your pdf.
Send me private message, and I'll give you an email address to send me a pdf to try out, if you want. I'm on a OS9 machine right now, but its worth a try...

manfreds,
It's just three pages of text in Appleworks. It's my letterhead which is causing the problem. I have put a gray band behind my address details.
I can't even get the latest version of acrobat to install. I get an "AGMCarbonlib" error.
Thanks

This is quite interesting...
I have opened the preview generated pdf in Preview, iTexMac and TeXShop without any problem.
If I open the doc in photoshop I get a message saying the file requires too much memory to rasterize properly, 'Open anyway?'. The result is useless.
Acrobat reader gives a 'drawing error' or something, useless result again.
In other words, the only applications I can find which have problems with the pdf are Adobe ones! :-)
Very silly...
Simon
