I have been on OS X 10.1.5 for about 6 months with fairly stable results. However, quite often Print Center says it cannot open connection to my two USB printers, an HP Laserjet 6MP and CP1700 Deskjet. I have tried getting rid of print center plist and prefs, etc. but the problem always comes back.

Then a few days ago, the same thing happened and so to rectify it I unplugged the USB hub from my keyboard that the laserjet 6MP is plugged into. I then got a full screen of jibberish, all highlighted in black. The system was froze, and from then on everything on the system went to hell so fast I could not open most apps and was forced to re-install op system from CDs.

Question: Is the USB and/or Print Center a weak link in OS X? Any fixes, updates, etc.?

I had this sort of thing all the time with 10.1 and even more with 10.0 (10.1's Print center icon was better at showing the pages animating properly)

Upgrade is the best solution since it REALLY (lots of flashing) improves stuff like printing which seems to have been s t since day 1 on X.

BTW that was a Kernel Panic you had (white text with black background). They look nicer in Jaguar too.
David.

I have been reluctant to pay the price to upgrade to JAG, Is it worth the money? Is it that much more stable than 10.1.5? I read pros and cons all over the boards on it's stability, and more often than not, see posts that seem to indicate it cause as many problems as it fixes.

Where can a guy go to get the REAL story on Jag's stability?

I would say the pros far outweigh the cons. If you have the space, I recommend you do an "Archive and Install." This will install a clean system and import all of your user prefs.
