I recently purchased a domain name and pointed it to my computer. Now, when I load "www.mydomain.com", it accesses my machine via web sharing. So far, so good.
However, when I click a link on the default web page to bring up "www.mydomain.com/somedir", it changes the current url to "xxxx.nyc1.dsl.speakeasy.net/somedir". Why is my domain name not "sticking"?
Anyone's "how-to" would be greatly appreciated!

Edit your /etc/httpd/httpd.conf. (with sudo pico in Terminal, or BBedit, etc.)

Change
UseCanonicalName On
to
UseCanonicalName Off

This will tell Apache to use whatever hostname people used to reach your website, rather than replacing the hostname with Apache's idea of your hostname.

While you're at it, you could set
#Servername fisheye
to
Servername www.mydomain.com
