Hi all,

after a couple of months with mail, it's settled down quite well.

However, over the last week or so, the filters/rules that I've set up seem to be failing to work regularly.

I haven't changed any of the rules, but now the messages are staying in my inbox instead of being put in their correct folders.

It's not happening to all rules, just some. I can't figure out what's causing this.

Anything anyone can suggest to try.

Well - it might help if you described how your rules work- what are the rule conditions?

Are you checking for the address that the email was sent from? or some other factor?

This has happened to me too. When it occurs, I can use "Apply rules to selection" (from the "Message" menu) and the rules will be applied successfully. It happens maybe 1 in every 50 messages at random (i.e. it happens with all rules).

Weird.

This was happening to me, if your situation is the same as mine, here is what is causing it.

What is probably happening is that the incoming message matches more than one rule. So try this:

Put the rules in the order you want them executed and the IMPORTANT PART: on each rule add "stop processing rules" . I am not at my mac right now but I beleive that is what it is called. This fixed my probelm in every case. Check out your rules.
