Interesting, for once, Software Update caught it before I saw anything on Apple's website.

I didn't really poke around all that much, but it's surprising to me that I didn't see it listed in the more prominent locations one would expect to find it. Also, the KB article that Software Update refers to (107362) doesn't appear either...

I'm gonna hold off a bit on it until I read some reports on it here...

On dial-up, two hour time-out, was wondering whether Software Update can resume a download? The file's 77.9MB, and I generally get about 25MB every two hours. Can it resume if I simply reconnect, disconnect? What about if I close Software Update / log out and back in?

I usually wait for the separate download, but as Software Update can now download to the desktop, I figured I might as well see whether I can use it.

Address book now stays running when you close its window. AND it keeps itself connected to your bluetooth phone!! Yay, I am so happy about that. I always kept forgetting and closing the damn window.

When you wander out of Bluetooth range the connections stops (obviously) and they still haven't set up a daemon that will try to reestablish connection every so often while the address book is running. I wonder if Address Book is applescriptable enough for me to setup something like that.

Could it be???

5 minutes ago if I opened a folder with about 2,000 images in it in icon view and quickly click on the list view button, the Finder would CRASH.

Not anymore!! Click, list view - click, icon view - click, column view - click, list view- click, icon view.. No more Finder crashes??

Can anyone else confirm this??

But, on the bright side, I see that one of the enhancements is that the problems I was having with the computer not going to sleep if I turned off my Firewire CD-RW while it was running has been fixed, at least according to this:
"Addresses an issue in which the computer may not sleep when idle after disconnecting a FireWire or USB device."

Let's hope it works as advertised now.

Great...I was starting to hate the apps that quit once you hit the close button. I'm glad Apple is making a 180 on that dumb decision.

Yes, and it's so much easier to remove something than (for a newbie) to add it to dock --

A new system upgrade may not be a bad time to have novices reminded again of what's available on the system -- that they might have *accidentally* deleted anyway.

so I have recently learned that it is not a real good idea to have many thousands of things in the same folder. it is much better to make up some kind of subfolder category. just passing this on.

if you are running the personal web sharing this update raised the version of apache to 1.3.27 and php to 4.1.2 but not 4.3 as I had hoped.

it will overwrite your apache conf file so you will have to re-edit that. it saves your old file as httpd.conf.applesaved in your /etc/httpd directory.

EDIT: Actually, inserting a "/" in after the ".com" makes the link work, but there's still no stand-alone download there *sigh*

Crap. Still no support for the audigy. I put in an audigy card but os 10.2.4 doesn't recognize it. Oh well, I've waited for 10 years I guess another 10 won't hurt.

Yes all the apps where in the default locations. I allways reset them before an update, then 'tidy up' again after.

It breaks php because it puts a new httpd.conf file in place. It saves your current file as httpd.conf.applesaved. To fix this and include the new changes you need to add/modify the following lined in the httpd.conf.applesaved file and then re-install it as the httpd.conf file (please save the current httpd.conf file as something like httpd.conf.apple10.2.4 just in case I missed something.)

In the load module section add

LoadModule hfs_apple_module libexec/httpd/mod_hfs_apple.so
LoadModule rendezvous_apple_module libexec/httpd/mod_rendezvous_apple.so

(if you have a rendezvous module remove those references both here and in add module)

In add module section add

AddModule mod_hfs_apple.c

RegisterDefaultSite
</IfModule>

. this should do it.

My php/mysql system again works great.

Just did a simultaneous install on my 1ghz tibook and 700 ibook...both downloaded and installed fine, but when i hit restart both have had spinning beachballs for bout ten minutes.
