Eliminating app icon from dock and keep app running

I remember hearing about a way to remove an applications icon from the dock and keep the application running. Could somebody help refresh my memory on how to do this? The app in question is NetStatinDock. I searched and came up with nuthin'.

the app dockless will do that. www.versiontracker.com do a search for 'dockless' class program
we don't have time to stop for gas
