what programs (preferably low cost) will allow me to try and recover files that have been trashed after the trash has already been deleted?

I had a folder on my desktop that I copied to a kingston 5 pcmcia hard disk. I then deleted the original off of my desktop. About 3 hours later, I went to open onne of these files and its corrupted. I need to try and get these files back. Any suggestions?

I'm using 10.2.4

The first thing to do is turn off the computer; if you write to the hard drive, there's a chance you could overwrite the files you want to recover.

With that said, Norton Utilities will recover deleted files.
