I am unable to write to Memorex
16x~24 RW discs in the Finder.
I'm running osx.2.3 in new dual 1.25
w/combo drive. I get and error 06.
Do I need Toast to burn to these discs?

Combo drives can't write CD-RW's faster than 10x. The Ultra Speed CD-RW's cannot be burned in any burner that can't burn RW's at at least 16x.

That's why they say "16x-24x" instead of just "24x Max." That's also why mine say "Read carefully: This media can only be recorded with CD-RW drives bearing an Ultra Speed logo."

I mean, duh? (Please take this with a sense of humor - I've had a long day )

P.S. How did you get ahold of those Memorex discs? When I tried to order them, the only place that even sold them was MacWarehouse, and they were sold out, so I had to go with Verbatims.

Lucky for everybody I do have a sense of humor. I'm new to the CD RW technology
so my sense of the capabilities of my current drive was not clear. I assumed the my drive was plenty fast but didn't realise the CD re-writable aspect of my
current drive was slightly behind the curve. Thanks for your help. the Memorex CD's were purchased at Best Buy.
