Is there any way to share a USB printer to an OS 9.1 machine (an 8500) and a machine running 10.2.4 (a Dual G4/500)? I'm quite sure Printer Sharing won't work...9 has it's own deal, and X uses CUPS. What could I try?

To do so, you should check the USB Printer Sharing under Mac Help. It tells you how to enable the Classic USB Printer sharing control panel. It's supposed to work.

Works just fine here; however, I've always had to have an OS 9 app launched on the OS X machine through Classic in order for the OS 9 client to pick up and show the printer being shared.

In my case, I just leave open SimpleText through Classic and it hasn't failed yet...

I am running Classic on my G4, with my printer added to the classic USB Printer Sharing control panel, but my Mac OS 9.1 client doesn't see it :-/ I've installed the classic drivers in both, as well

Are you running the firewall on your G4? If so, have it let USB printer sharing through. Any traffic whether its OS 9 traffic or X traffic gets firewalled.
