I currently have XDarwin installed on MacOS 10.2.3

Would like to have a look at Apple's implimentation of X11

Can I have both installed concurrently, or is it advisable to remove XDarwin first

Also am about to upgrade to 10.2.4 - an issues that may become bugs if I upgrade over the top

Also i read somewhere that it is advisable to compile Apples X11 rather than instal the binary as it lacks Headers if you want to compile apps for later use on it - is this correct

Ok - sorry shoulda done a search first! - i need to edit the .xinitrc

But i would like to know where I can find the files I need to edit to get the full path search and same functionality that existed in 10.1

And also could someone advise where i can directly download the Xll source and the what the command line syntax is to download and compile it?

http://www.lists.apple.com/mailman/listinfo/x11-users ... the mailing list with questions about paths and other stuff.

http://www.xfree86.org/ ... the source code with instructions.

Hope that helps.

Thanks

Wonder why Apple hasn't released all the source that is contained in the binary installer?

also found the pre 10.2 'fix' files in /usr/share/tcsh/examples/README

Apple did release "their" X11 source code a week ago (http://developer.apple.com/darwin/projects/misc/), it won't be different or more actual than the provided binaries.
They won't release the source code of their Quartz window manager.
