Is there a way to "forward" DNS requests from an OS X machine to an ISP DNS server? I use DHCP on my machines, but for some reason the DHCP server doesn't provide name server addresses (unlike on Windows, where that stuff seems to get populated), and I would like to have my gateway OS X machine run DNS which delegates to my external DNS, then have all of my other machines configured to use the gateway machine for DNS.

Is this possible without a lot of work?

Edit /etc/named.conf and add the following line in the options { ... } section:

forwarders { 1.2.3.4 ; 2.3.4.5 ; } ;

where the numbers listed are you upstream (ISP's) DNS servers.

Note that the syntax is important, including separating the servers with ;
Gods don't kill people - people with Gods kill people.
