Hi,

i just recently had to deal with this interesting problem. An application unmounted my DVD, but I had to force quit it before it was finished with its task. I found no way of remounting the DVD and had to restart just because of that.

Now that I think about it, I also never found out how to remount a hard disk after unmounting it.

Anyone can help me here?

the command 'mount' (with appropriate arguments) may be of use. open terminal and type (without quotes) 'man mount' and press return. It should give you information on mounting the filesystems you want.

I don't know of any gui that does this.

Did eject work? (Hit the Eject key) If not, I'm afraid not - I've had that same thing a couple times on my iMac. Seems like the computer/IDE/DVD drive gets confused and drops the connection. Also seems to have goeetn better with 10.2.3/.4...

Disk Utility in the utilities folder lets you mount unmounted volumes.
