too many files for a dvd-r help!

ok I have a targa sequence I rendered from after effects and well when I use toast to burn all the files to my pioneer dvd a04 drive it just hangs after a while and I have to abort because it never burns .

is there some kind of problem with burning alot of files to a dvd-r or am I missin something here since I did buy the dvd burner to back up lots of files.

please help

I don't have toast, but do have Discribe. Still I find the best way to successfully burn lots of files is to create a disc image first (which kind of makes discribe redundant apart from UDF). This is a slow process, but it works.
