I'm not sure what is going on here. any ideas?

I'm pretty sure its the font arial, but I tried swapping them out/etc, and didn't get any good results.

Does anyone know what order the fonts folders get loaded in? Is it not okay to have the same fonts mulitple times?

The last thing is that these fonts seem to be messed up only in cocoa apps. I'm not 100% sure about this, but TextEdit, Safari, and Mail, show the font wrong, Explorer and Photoshop show it right.

This is driving me crazy.

That's really interesting. I had a problem just like this not too long ago, but the fonts were messed up with all Carbon apps and not Cocoa apps!

I found the problem was due to some fonts that I had in ~/Library/Fonts. I believe I converted them with TTConverter and either messed up the conversion settings or the fonts were messed up to begin with. Removing all fonts from ~/Library/Fonts solved the problem. I realize this is not ideal, but it solved the problem for me, and since then I have not had the time/motivation to perform followup investigations. You might need to logout/login again before changes take effect, I don't remember.

HTH!

I'll give it a try. I removed the font that I thought was the problem, but maybe I'll remove them all, and see if that fixes it. Usually I can figure this stuff out, but man, this is really bugging me.

I haven't had these through any kind of of conversion software, I did put them in a DMG for transfer, I wonder if that messed something up.
