I'm trying to connect to a Mac running OS 10.2.x using XWin32 - I'm running X11 (Apple's version 0.2) and have set at least some of the XAuthority traffic to on in the root ssh_config file (the default is off), but I'm kind of working blind. I've been unable to find any other info on this so far.

I can ssh and otherwise connect from other UNIX machines fine - it is only XWin32 that is giving me problems right now. (I can connect to other machines, such as SGI and Linux boxes, from XWin32 just fine.)

Thanks in advance if you have any advice.

X-win32 is an X server
Apple's X11.2 is an X server

What you said doesn't follow.

what are you trying to do? Where do you want to run clients?

I want to connect to an OS X system from XWin32 and run X11 Apps remotely from the Mac on the PC. I can do this with my other UNIX machines from XWin32 but not with OS X.

Apple's FAQ on this said you can do this, but didn't say how.

Thanks.

You can ssh from the PC to the mac with a client that supports X forwarding, and then start the apps in that ssh session.

Chances are though, what you want is a login screen to pop up in Xwin32 when you "connect" to the mac, and to do that you'd need to install xdm and configure it as an XDMCP server. Xdm is part of XFree86, but there are replacements like gdm and kdm.
