Hi,
I am wondering what the average startup time for vpc 6. I am running vpc 6.0 with XP and typically need around 1:30-2 minutes to start. Is this normal? Launching IE takes about 15 seconds.
I am using TI667 wth 768M RAM, 256 allocated to VPC.
Thanks

Yes, it's normal. VPC6 is a slow piece of crap.

Don't quit the OS within VPC. VPC can save the state of the OS when it quits, similar to putting it to sleep. This only takes a few seconds to do. Then when you relaunch VPC, it's right where you left it.

BTW, this is in the wrong forum.

kymikai: 1-1.5 minutes for XP startup is about right. 15 seconds for IE is on the slow side, but it's in the right ballpark.

VirtualPC 6 is much faster on a given piece of hardware than VPC5 was. On my 1ghz powerbook, VPC6 is about as fast as a 500-600Mhz PIII with really slow disk + graphics card. Not too shabby, considering what it's doing.

And to the whiners....you're entitled to your own opinions, of course. However, for those of us who have been using VPC *for actual work* since v1.0, VPC6 is a huge step forward. The fact that it runs at all is a testament to the amount of work Connectix put into it. The fact that it's as fast as it is approaches "miracle" status.

Now go back to class.

Just tried on my TiBook 1 Ghz, 768 RAM:
VPC 6.0.1, launching Win2K sp 3 launches in 1 min 30sec.
IE launch takes 10 sec...
Always on the run...
